The HP ProLiant BL460c Gen8 is a dual-socket server blade engineered for unprecedented performance, enhanced flexibility and simplified management which makes it the standard for data center computing. The ProLiant BL460c Gen8 Server packs in more performance with a 33% increase in memory DIMM count, Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 Processor with added support for 130W processors, faster I/O slots and enhanced Smart Array Controller that now ships with 512MB Flash Back Write Cache standard. In addition, it is also more flexible with the HP FlexibleLOM which provides the ability to customize server networking today and the ability to meet future needs without overhauling server hardware.

- Support for up to 130 watts per processor providing a wider choice of processor options and greater performance

Improved Memory Capacity, Performance, and Power
- 16 DIMM slots provide up to 512MB of memory (33% increase over the previous generation)
- The four memory channels per processor provide no reduction in memory capacity or speed as DIMMs are added
- Operate RDIMMs at low power (1.35V LVDIMMs) without reducing performance, saving an estimated 15-25% wattage per DIMM
- Lower cost UDIMM capacity has increased to 128GB (nearly three times that of the previous generation)
- Choice of operating at a high performance mode (1.5V RDIMMs at 1600MHz), in a power saving, standard performance mode (1.35V LRDIMM/LVRDIMMs at 1333MHz), or a low cost mode (1.35V UDIMMs at 1333MHz)
The New HP iLO Management Engine
- HP iLO Management Engine is a complete set of embedded management features supporting the complete lifecycle of the server, from initial deployment, through ongoing management, to service alerting and remote support. HP iLO Management Engine comes standard on all HP ProLiant Gen8 Servers
- The new HP iLO simplifies server setup, health monitoring, power and thermal control, and promotes remote administration. Access, deploy, and manage your server anytime from anywhere with your Smartphone device
- Now with HP Agentless Management, the base hardware monitoring and alerting capability of the BL460c Gen8 are built into the system (running on the HP iLO chipset) and starts working the moment that a power cord and an Ethernet cable is connected to the server
- The new HP Active Health System monitors and records changes in the server hardware and system configuration, it assists in diagnosing problems and delivering rapid resolution when system failures occur
- HP FlexibleLOM provides the ability to customize server networking today and the ability to meet future needs without overhauling server hardware. Provides choice of bandwidth and fabric (Ethernet, FCoE, InfiniBand), supports WOL, and provides a shared iLO port for ease of use.
